Josiah's Third month and early summer in Nepal

Hey Ya'll! Check out how big I'm getting!
Josiah's third month was packed with big changes. He started interacting with us continually, learned how to use his hands to grab things, and started making lots of different sounds, from grunts to squeals!

After Josiah turned two months, we started introducing pumped milk in a bottle for the last feeding of the day. Kris really enjoys taking part in the feedings, and Tonya enjoys some free time away from nursing!

After discovering his hands, Josiah immediately started putting things in his mouth. His favorite items are his bunny, yellow blankey, and most of all, his own hands!

Kris and Josiah go together like peas in a pod, or as Forrest Gump so famously said, like "peas and carrots". They love play time, especially when Josiah gets tossed in the air (ever so carefully, of course!)

Since the only professional photographer in Nepal didn't know how to get a 2 1/2 month old to pose right and smile, we decided to take our own at home. Josiah had difficulty looking at a blinking red light, but they still turned out better!

"These are a few of my (daddy's) favorite things!" Well, Josiah likes them too!

Himal, Kris' language tutor, now gets to come to our home 2-3 hours a day during the week. He is Hindu and has a wife and 3 year old son. Tonya will start taking class with him very soon, as Josiah is finally becoming a predicatable enough baby to schedule some Nepali learning time!

Tonya's language tutor from last year, Praba, gave Josiah a traditional Nepali outfit for a baby gift. Unfortunately, when we put it on him, we realized it was made only for Nepali shaped babies! The pants would not fit him right and the shirt was short and too snug. We didn't even put the matching jacket on him since it was so hot! Kris commented "He looks like he belongs on Little House on the Prairie" Almost all Nepali babies look like this, but it cramps his style :-).

We celebrated Josiah's three month birthday by having our American friends over for American cake made from mix given by volunteers from the States and a very rare find in Nepal: Pillsbury chocolate frosting! It may have cost $5 a tub, but money isn't an object when it comes to special celebrations! We savored each bite. Too bad Josiah could only watch!
